Jeff Rock on Google’s Chrome OS
If it’s too complicated, too much things going on like with Windows, they complain. If it’s too simple, like what Google Chrome OS seems to become, they complain. I get this feeling, which I’m sure is incorrect but still it’s what I sense, that nothing is ever considered good unless it comes from Apple. I feel pretty damn confident that we’d be hearing more positive vibes if it was Apple Chrome OS, even if the software itself stayed absolutely the same.
Even with things Apple do wrong (as few and far between they might be), there’s that sense of that it doesn’t matter or that Apple will, no doubt and clearly and it’s so obvious it shouldn’t even need mentioning, fix it next time.
None of these companies are perfect. Apple, Microsoft, Google. They all make good things, bad things, mistakes and nifty solutions. Me, I’m not a lover nor a hater. I like OSX allright but think XP fits me better (I don’t know what those people who claim to reinstall their Windows-machines every six month or more do with their stuff, but I have had this computer for over two years and it still runs with the same install) and I prefer Ubuntu above all. I think PC hardware generally has boring designs though Apple is worse, they’re designs is generally both boring and soulless. These companies all have things good and bad, and there are Apple products I would consider but all that blind praise, that unconditional love towards a company like any other, is the one most important thing that keeps pushing me further and further away. Yes, those other companies have them too, Google more than Microsoft, but nowhere is it so widespread and downright silly as among fans of Apple.
Phew. I’ve waited a long time to get this of my chest.
And yes, this has been a day of much annoyance for me. You, blind disiples of all things Apple, has not been the only victims.
And no, I’m not perfect either. True story.
